What happens after you die? Who goes to heaven and who goes to hell? Who spends eternity with God and who spends eternity under God's wrath -- eternal punishment in the lake of fire?
The most common answer is that good people go to heaven and bad people go to hell (the lake of fire).
So... are you a good person?
What standard should be used to determine who is good? Since God is the judge it should be God's standard. What is that standard? God has given us a good summary in the Ten Commandments.
How many lies have you told?
Have you ever taken something that does not belong to you? Even something small? For example, downloading copyrighted music from the internet is taking something that does not belong to you. Stealing candy as a kid is taking something that does not belong to you.
Have you ever used God's name as a curse word? That's blasphemy -- taking the name of God who created you, who gives you the very air you breath, and using His name as a filth word. Would you use your mother's name the same way?
Have you ever been really angry at someone? Jesus said that anger is the same as murder. God looks at our hearts and he sees our anger as murder. He also sees lust as the same as adultery.
These are just five of the Ten Commandments. How did you do?
If you have broken any of God's laws you have earned the punishment for breaking the law. It is called hell and the Bible says that it is an eternal lake of fire.
But what if there was someone who volunteered to step in and take your punishment for you?
Jesus did that. He died on the cross 2,000 years ago. He took the full wrath of God, the full punishment of God that you've earned so that you can go free.
