How evangelism at a parade works - For a parade that
starts at 11AM, we'll start at 9:00 AM in the assembly area.
It's a good place to talk with people who are just waiting around.
About an hour before the parade starts we begin walking the
parade route handing out tracts. We have fun. We start conversations
with some people. And if someone expresses an interest, we'll
talk about the Bible, sin and God's great gift to us. Once the
parade starts it is difficult to have a conversation, so we
focus on getting the gospel into people's hands by handing out
tracts. When the parade ends we're usually pretty tired but
we keep handing out tracts to people who are leaving the parade.
We do not recruit for a specific church. We do not promote
a denomination. We do not ask for money. We do not sell anything.
Our purpose is solely to share the good news about the free
gift God has given to us.
I don't keep a count of how many people we talk with. However,
I can tell how many tracts we give out because I know how many
we start with, and how many we have at the end. At this parade
we gave out over 2,000 tracts.
